Happy National Brush Day
What better day to celebrate National Brush Day than the day after Halloween!?! This national campaign encourages kids to pledge to keep their mouth healthy by brushing 2 minutes 2 times a day! Dental decay is the most common chronic childhood disease; affecting 16.5 million children in the United States…Making sure kids brush their teeth for just 2 minutes, twice a day can make all the difference!
The American Dental Association’s Ad campaign 2min2x uses humor to point out how kids can spend their time! It’s amazing that kids can spend 13 minutes watching gerbils ride a train, 11 minutes dressing Spike (the bulldog!) as a princess, 8 minutes decorating their little brother as a cake, or 26 minutes texting ….so why not 2 minutes to brush their teeth?
2min2x.org is a website designed to get kids excited about brushing and to provide education about the importance of brushing. The website has videos for all ages…from the Dream Jam Band singing ‘Bad Hair Day’ and ‘Have a party when you get the blues’, to Tom and Jerry or even Elmo! Each of the videos is 2 minutes….the perfect amount of time to brush your teeth.
The website also provides educational information such as when to expect tooth eruption, preventing cavities, snacking tips, injury prevention and habits (like thumb sucking and pacifiers).
Join us this November 1st in celebrating the first National Brush Day!
