Drs. Cipes and Chisholm attend 75th AAPD meeting
Drs. Cipes and Chisholm attended the 75th annual American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry meeting in San Diego. After 2 years of virtual meetings, they were able to join their colleagues and attend both clinical and scientific sessions.
The Scientific Program Committee organized a great lineup of speakers and topics; ranging from clinical care to materials to administrative tips. Dr. Cipes attended the preconference course on diagnosis and management of dental trauma. Some of Dr. Chisholm’s favorite courses were on pulp therapy as well as restorative principles and materials. We also attended sessions on caring for medially complex patients, sedation, space management and the timing of orthodontic treatment.
While there we attended the College of Diplomates meeting where Dr. Cipes was recognized for her service as the President of the AAPD College of Diplomates (COD), and was sworn in as immediate past president. The COD hosted an inspiring talk by Dr. Michael Goodman, of Riley Children’s Hospital, on “Bullying: How We Can Help as Dental Professionals, Adults and Human Beings.” We were all moved by his presentation and have been brainstorming ways to spread his message of kindness.
