Are you on the lookout for dental gift ideas this holiday season?! Here is a dentist’s guide to holiday shopping… from stocking stuffers to presents under the tree! These are our top picks this year 😊

Stocking stuffers:
• Toothpaste or toothbrushes that feature your child’s favorite character. There are so many choices, from princesses to super heroes to paw patrol!
• Electric toothbrush. There are some fun and inexpensive ones for kids. For adults there are travel electric toothbrushes, that would fit perfectly in a stocking!
• Floss picks. We often hear that kids tell their parents the reason they aren’t flossing is because they’ve run out. This is the perfect time to restock!
• Chattering teeth toy. Remember these from when you were a child?? Turn the little knob and watch them chatter and waddle around! Hours of entertainment provided.

Toys:
• Melissa and Doug’s Dentist kit. Let your child’s imagination run with this pretend play set- it even has a typodont (tooth model), a mirror, prophy angle and braces (regular and clear aligners!). We’ve all seen medical kits before, but how cute is a dentist kit!
• Barbie dentist. Barbie can be anything and it looks like she is a pediatric dentist! A little patient in her chair and all!
• Play doh drill n’ fill. You can be a dentist to with this cool set!
• Crocodile dentist. Be quick so you don’t get bit!” We’re happy that this crocodile is not our patient.
• Baby tooth monster doll. If you don’t know about these just google it! Super creepy is all we can say.
• Toothfairy Pillow. Perfect gift for a child who is just starting to get some wiggly teeth! Get ready for the magic of the toothfairy’s visit!
• Book about the tooth fairy.

Tooth Whitening
• Many over the counter systems work really well. We typically recommend starting with one of these if you want whiter teeth, but be sure to use them as directed. We caution use in young adolescents as the teeth can be quite sensitive due to the size of pulp (nerve) chamber. Also don’t use them if you have fillings or crowns on front teeth, as the fillings won’t lighten, resulting in a color difference. If you’ve already tried an over the counter system, but were not satisfied with the results, talk to us about professional strength whitening.
