October is National Dental Hygiene Month! We appreciate all our dental hygienists do for us and patients in our practice.    Last Wednesday to show our appreciation we had a special luncheon in their honor.

Dental hygienists play an integral role in the dental practice.   They are educators, teaching our patients and their parents how to brush and floss their teeth, and tailoring each discussion to the individual.   They provide a nurturing environment for our patients and provide them with the highest quality dental care.   Here is a little about our hygienists…

Leigh has been with the practice for 22 years!   She graduated from AI Prince Tech dental assisting program before completing her degree in dental hygiene at Tunxis Community College.   Anyone who meets Leigh knows she has a heart of gold.   Leigh is especially devoted to our patients with special healthcare needs.   She treats each person with the utmost compassion and respect.    Leigh lives in Portland with her husband and 2 children.

Jen has been with CPD for 14 years.  Jen started her career in dentistry as a dental assistant and then studied at Tunxis Community College to become a dental hygienist.    She is passionate about education; having taught dental hygiene at Tunxis Community College and she currently serves on the Bristol Board of Education.   Jen lives in Bristol with her husband and 2 children.

Maren, a Fones graduate, lives in West Hartford with her husband and son.   Maren has a natural ability to make everyone feel at home, parents and children alike.   Her light-hearted humor keeps us all smiling, and has for the past 9 years!

Maresa is a 9 year veteran with CPD.   The mother of 2 young children, Maresa is able to explain things to parents in terms they are able to relate to.  Her personable manner puts everyone at ease.  Maresa graduated from Tunxis Community College with a degree in dental hygiene.

Colleen is the newest addition to the CPD team.   She came to us in June with 6 years of experience working with children.   She completed her degree in Communications from the University of Connecticut before deciding to pursue her interest in dentistry.   She then completed hygiene school at Tunxis Community College .   She and her husband live in Newington with their two young daughters.
